An Honest Valentine’s Gift Guide
Valentine’s Day, the holiday that causes men anxiety and women measured anticipation. The holiday that has a bad habit of sneaking up on you. Well, if you’re shopping last minute and are drawing a blank, one of the following is sure to bring a smile.
Gift Ideas for Her
Men, Valentine’s Day is a little harder for you, we get that. Bear in mind though, recently your wife was neck deep in the stress of the holidays trying to make sure a month’s worth of celebrating was enjoyed by all. It’s time for a little effort on your part. Think of it as a mission and get out there and complete it. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Flowers
Yes, it’s cliché, but it didn’t get that reputation by accident. It’s a crowd pleaser especially if you include her favorite flower.
Perfume or Lotions
Women love to smell good and let’s be honest men, you love us to smell good too. So, do a little reconnaissance in the bathroom and search for bottles that are running low. Saving your wife a trip to the store is a win for her and probably a win for your budget too.
Candles
Not only do we like to smell good, but we like our environment to smell good too. Women love not just the smell of candles, but the calm, relaxing ambiance they create. Do a little scouting around the house and discover the types and scents she uses most. It’s a whole lot easier to cozy up to a calm, relaxed wife.
Clothing
If there is a clothing item you know she would like, or already has her eye on, buy it for her. This one’s risky and not for the faint at heart, so be sure to take a peek in her closet first and review the size labels on her clothes. Only God can help you if you’re too far off on the size.
Dinner Out
Take her out to dinner. This one is a bit risky too, if you’re the one picking the restaurant, but do it anyway. I assure you, she will appreciate the gesture and coming home to a clean kitchen is always a gift.
Candy or Snacks
CAUTION: Proceed at your own risk. You never know if she’s still trying to stick to that New Year’s weight loss resolution. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Jewelry
If you can afford it, do it. If you can’t, don’t, especially if she is the budget minder of the two of you.
Purse or Wallet
Some of us women have gained a bit of a reputation for being less than decisive at times especially when it comes to spending money on ourselves. Has she had her eye on a new purse or wallet, but not pulled the trigger yet? Buy it for her and inside tuck a gift card to her favorite coffee shop.
Spa Day
Is she in need of a relaxing day at the spa? Hint: That’s a rhetorical question. Yes, always yes. Book it.
Gift Ideas for Him
Do not complicate things for yourselves, ladies. If you helped your man celebrate Super Bowl Sunday, he’s heading into Valentine’s Day a happy camper already. Aside from time with you in the bedroom, here’s all your man really wants for Valentine’s Day.
Steak
Men love to sink their teeth into a nice juicy steak. Suggest eating out at a restaurant that has great steaks or cook him one at home. Better yet, buy some steaks and give him an excuse to BBQ. It’s like two gifts in one and a gift for you too.
Alcohol
Buy him a bottle of his favorite alcohol or one that you know he’d like to own. If you’re not sure what to get, just buy your favorite bottle and it will quickly become a favorite of his too!
Last, but not least
In all seriousness, the best things we can give to each other are words and acts of love and appreciation. Relationships are strengthened through gratitude. Just enjoy some time together. Happy Valentine’s Day!
